Adarrel OMAR Fisher

God Speed

stagename: Odiggimus

Raised in Charlotte, NC, Omar is the founding member of Making Others Righteous (M.O.R.). He started writing rap/poetry in childhood back and forth with his brothers. He first accepted Jesus in 1991 at age 13 at a Christian Summer Camp sponsored by Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Omar rededicated his life to Jesus at age 21 with the new years resolution that he would read the Bible from beginning to end. After doing so he was equipped to accept his calling to ministry in 2000 first with Bible studies that he conducted from his home to share the Word with his friends. This is also around the time when Omar joined St. Phillips Baptist Church which he is currently a member of. In 2001 one his best friends was shipped off to a Federal Prison in Lexington, KY which devestated him, but gave him a bigger sense of his purpose when Omar visited him and found out how often Black men were going to prison, being released, and then coming right back to prison. The amount of Black Adult and Juvenile Offenders is astonishing! Omar joined the Saints Prison Ministry in 2003 after finding out about the organization via the internet and began touring around to different prisons to play structured games of basketball with inmates and deliver a message from the Lord to all who would listen at half-time. Seeing the success of reaching men with the game of basketball, a year later Omar started M.O.R. with the purpose of using poetry and rap to reach even more men and young men in a way they could understand. Omar believes rap/hip-hop is embedded in the African-American culture and has been used extensively to communicate a lot of negatives such as guns, violence, drugs, and womanizing, but that it also can be used to convey the positive message of Jesus' love. Omar has published many poems, has performed in over 30 states and 2 countries, was featured on Voices of Christ Literary Ministries International, is a member of the International Network of Prison Ministries, and also in 2007 published a book detailing his most life-changing prison ministry experiences...Confrontations.
